Yasser Wali graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt, in 1984 with Honours. He was trained in Alexandria Children’s University Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt, and completed his Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Pediatrics from the same university in 1994.

Professor Wali gained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) certification in 1998 and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) in 2005. He has a special interest in pediatric hematology and oncology and his clinical services extend to all the Arabian Gulf area. He is actively involved as a trainer and examiner for the MD, Diploma of Child Health (DCH) (Glasgow), Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) (UK) and examinations in the Gulf region. He is highly committed towards the improvement and development of Pediatric Undergraduate and Post-Graduate teaching and training programs.

He has authored over 110 peer-reviewed journal publications and more than 300 abstracts and presentations in both international and local meetings in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology. He serves as Associate Editor of Oman Medical Journal and Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal. He is a reviewer of many international peer-reviewed journals. Currently, he serves as Professor and Head of the Pediatric Hematology / Oncology Unit, Child Health Department in Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman, and Program Director of the Pediatric Education Committee in Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB), responsible for training Omani Pediatricians throughout Oman.
